TREICHELN and GLOCKEN


Cow with "Glocken"
Cowbells are worn as standard by alpine cattle when left to graze in alpine meadows. They serve the purpose of being able to easily find the odd cow that has wandered off for a nibble in that even greener pasture over yonder. A decorative version of the cowbell is worn for festive occasions such as the colorful spring and winter cow drives, taking the cattle up to the high pastures in the spring and back to the valley pastures in the fall.

They make great decorations for your home, dog's cart, or prizes for competitions and clubs. In fact custom engraved plaques can be attached to some of the medium sized bells, personalizing the bell for the occasion.

We encourage our bells to be used for memorabilia and/or prizes for that special occasion, whether a wedding, conference, dog show, or sporting event. In order to fit into your budget, we offer special pricing for bells purchased in bulk in quantities of 15 or more. Please enquire separately for a custom quote.
Tradition states that the alpine dairy herdsmen must relieve their cows of their large festive Treicheln and carry them themselves the last kilometer to the alpine huts where they will spend the summer months
