Gruetzi! My name is Schlappi Schauss and my Mommy says that I was the inspiration for this whole company she calls Alpen Schatz.

I am an 8 month old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy and due to my mommy's passion for Europe, (she spent almost half of her life living in England and Bavaria), I have been spoiled with various goodies she has brought back for me - in particular a beautiful leather and brass hand crafted collar she found in a little village tucked away in the Swiss Alps! She brought this and other treats back for me even before I was born, in anticipation for me coming into the family!

Once I grew into my "special" collar", I noticed that when I wore it, it always made me look so good and people were always coming up to pet me and compliment me as to how nice I looked…and of course they complimented my collar, too!

How I love my collar! It makes me feel so proud to be a dog AND I get lots of extra pats and pets from passersby as a result!

Well, of course my Mommy takes me out to play at the puppy playground and now that I am a big boy, we even get to go to the park and to the beach Yippeeee! How I love to dig in the sand and run in the surf after all of the other dogs!

On outings with my doggie friends, my Mommy noticed how many dog owners admired my collar, it being so unique, durable and well made. People who had all sorts of different kinds of dogs all wanted to know if my Mommy could "bring them back one" on her next trip to Europe.

Well, one thing led to another and my Mommy went over to Switzerland to meet with the craftsmen of these special collars and learn more about their ancient crafts and traditions.

…and as a result, VOILA! Schaussi's Alpen Schatz was born, with its main goal to make available unique and wonderful traditional treasures of the European Alps to all of my American doggie friends…not to mention their families, too!

So take a look through our site. We hope that you will find something you like. And remember that although we are starting with Swiss traditional products, we will be gradually expanding to other regions, such as Italy and France, to bring you the very best quality European treasures for your family and your beloved four-legged friends.
